Prayer Points for the month of Av (5786)

PRAYER POINTS FOR THE MONTH OF AV

  1. Pray for repentance and a returning to the Lord. The month of Av reminds us that God patiently called Israel to repentance for generations before judgment came. Pray that during this season the Holy Spirit would search our hearts, exposing every area of pride, compromise, and false security. Ask the Lord to bring genuine repentance to His Church, to Israel, and to the nations, that many would return to Him with humility and wholehearted obedience while His invitation of mercy still stands. (Jeremiah 4:1-2; Psalm 139:23-24; Acts 17:30-31)

  2. Pray for the Church to walk in faith and endurance. As the apostles proclaimed, a coming day of judgment is part of the Gospel message. Pray that believers around the world would be strengthened to stand firm in truth, growing in faith, holiness, and endurance. Ask the Lord to prepare His Church to remain steadfast in every trial, boldly proclaiming the Gospel and shining as faithful witnesses until the return of Christ. (Revelation 13:10; Acts 10:42; Ephesians 6:10-18)

  3. Pray for Israel during Tisha B'Av. As the Jewish people remember the destruction of both Temples and reflect on one of the darkest seasons in their history, pray that the Lord would draw near to the brokenhearted and reveal Himself in a fresh way. Ask God to turn mourning into hope by bringing spiritual awakening, opening hearts to His truth, and fulfilling His promise to restore His people as they seek Him. (Psalm 34:18; Jeremiah 24:7; Ezekiel 36:26-27)

PRAYER FOR THE ICEJ

  1. Pray for the leadership and staff of the ICEJ. Ask the Lord to strengthen, protect, and refresh our leaders, staff, and their families. Pray for wisdom, unity, and a fresh anointing as they minister during this critical season. Ask God to continue opening new doors for the Gospel and to empower every message proclaimed from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 40:29-31; Isaiah 11:2-3; Ephesians 6:19)

  2. Pray for the Feast of Tabernacles (September 25-October 1). Pray that the Lord would prepare every detail of the Feast and draw believers from every nation to Jerusalem. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead every speaker, worship leader, volunteer, and participant, and that many would encounter the Lord and walk in His ways. Pray that His Word would once again go forth from Zion to the nations. (Isaiah 2:2-3; Isaiah 30:18-21; Zechariah 14:16)

  3. Pray for the ongoing ministry of the ICEJ. Pray for God's provision and direction as the Embassy continues expanding its ministry, including plans for a permanent home in Jerusalem. Ask the Lord to establish every work according to His perfect will and continue raising up Christian leaders worldwide who will stand firmly with Israel according to the Scriptures. (Psalm 127:1; Isaiah 62:6-7)

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL AND THE NATIONS

  1. Pray for renewed momentum surrounding the Abraham Accords.

Pray that more nations in the Middle East would pursue peace, cooperation, and stronger relations especially between Israel and Lebanon. Ask the Lord to open doors for dialogue, stability, and reconciliation across the region. (Psalm 85:10)

  1. Pray for the protection of Israel’s borders,

Let us pray especially over the northern border and along the Mediterranean coast. Ask the Lord to watch over the nation, expose every hidden threat, and guard the people of Israel from violence and attack. (Psalm 121:4)

  1. Pray for Israel, the United States, and Iran.

Pray for wisdom and discernment for the leaders of Israel and the United States during this critical time concerning Iran. Ask the Lord to guide every decision and lead them in paths that preserve peace and security. Pray also for transformation within Iran's leadership, that God would raise up authorities who pursue justice, peace, and greater freedom for their people. Intercede for the protection, boldness, and continued growth of the underground Church in Iran. (Proverbs 11:14; Jeremiah 49:35, 38-39)

  1. Pray for new opportunities for economic cooperation, trade, and regional partnerships across the Middle East.

Pray that the Lord would bring greater stability and blessing to Israel and its neighbors. Ask the Lord to guide these developments according to His purposes. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Comments

The greatest prophecy yet to be fulfilled in the history of the modern restoration of Israel is the outpouring of the Spirit foretold by many prophets in Scripture (Ezekiel 36, 37; Isaiah 43; Zechariah 12:14). Let us pray that God will complete His work by the Holy Spirit in the Land of Israel at this time.
